I'm Clara.
I love to write, but I will always be a reader first. I grew up reading above my grade level (my greatest accomplishment to this day) and since then, fictional stories have been the backbone of my personality.Now with 25+ years of reading under my belt (20+ years of independent reading), it's time to take off the training wheels and have a go at storytelling myself.I live with an insatiable curiosity for meaning. What's the point of all this time, effort, and energy we spend each day for a life that will go away in an instant? I might be a secret cynic, but that comes with the arena. I love to explore the complexities of family dynamics, female friendships, ambitious yet insecure young women, hopeless romantics with no luck and everything that could possibly go wrong.Trust me, there's no shortage of material as I tend to the overgrown decision tree forest that is my mind. For me, writing is merely a moment of feigned control. Trillion Trees
A speculative fiction novel I wrote after my first real heartbreak (I had really lost hope) about a modern Earth in which convicts are left behind to plant trees while the rest of civilization vacates to Mars. It has a post-apoaolytpic yet corporate feel like one of my novels, Severance by Ling Ma.
Bad Call
A sporty romance novel that I wrote out of pure spite because I was angry about an unreciprocated crush on a guy who I played co-ed soccer with. In the book, I made him like me back (spoiler alert), but I tried to make it somewhat realistic via enemies-to-lovers. I did not succeed IRL, but hey, at least I got this book out of it.
The Alignment
Everyone and their mother love to ask me if I'm in a relationship, so I wrote a book about it. Our protagonist is a single 33-year-old woman whose mother decides to take matters into her own hands by gifting her daughter a stay at an infamous single-woman boot camp called The Alignment. The retreat's goal is to whip women into tip-top shape so they can find husbands and live happily ever after.

In a near future, average civilians have abandoned Earth for Mars while society’s convicts are left behind as a final workforce to plant forests and rebuild the atmosphere. A speculative fiction story about a dwindling environment, corporate greed, heartbreak, and the cost of hope. Told from the perspective of Shale, a lonely middle-aged convict just trying to make it by.

Bad Call
Romance / Contemporary | Completed (2024)
A high-banter, sporty romance novel fuelled by the #1 emotion in the world, pure spite. I wrote this after an an unreciprocated crush and made it an enemies-to-lovers story (this did not pan out in real life). It features sharp dialogue, terrible human choices and characters who refuse to compromise.

Written from personal experience of how hard it is to be in an adult woman in a world that demands you to have a partner and the pressures that come from outside and in.

All I want to do for every hour of every day for the rest of my life is write.I grew up as a shy, insecure bookworm who never raised her hand in class (shocker), but silently got straight A's. At home, I was and am the eldest daughter of Iranian immigrant parents who came to Canada for freedom and didn't realize their daughter would selfishly dream of writing. Their work ethic shaped me. I began working at 16 years old: from customer service and sales to tutoring, I was always learning and observing. When I graduated from York University with a communications degree (I'm just full of surprises, I know), I dove headfirst into full-time corporate work. All this to say, I am very lucky that I get time to write.I write for fun and I will stop when it's no longer fun.
